3D Commercial Spot! Just bragging :)

I typically like to keep my posts as more educational posts to help you all learn as much as you can about different software but I have to take a little bit of time I have been working hard on.

One thing I love to do is take on a new project and give it my all. Preventive Pest Control’s branch in Mesa, Arizona came to me with a specific need to have a 30 second commercial produced to be shown before movies at the movie theater.

All they had was an idea for a bunch of spiders to fill the screen and really get people attention. They had someone else try to produce something for them but were ultimately unhappy with the 2D outcome they produced.

I met with them to talk about some of their ideas since they know their customers more than I do and got really what they wanted to portray. I then went to the storyboard and started drawing up some ideas. (Not my sketches are not the greatest but I had a vision of what I wanted based on what the customer had given me.) I worked with my excellent team to model the spider then to animate the spider and multiply the spider by the hundreds. Then I worked with my great audio guy to get awesome narration and ultimately music.

My team and the customer are extremely happy with the end results and wanted to share it

Hype makes life easier when it comes to publishing HTML5 for iBooks Author

The past couple weeks have been a busy one for Kinetic Media. We have been producing a 3D commercial for a Pest Control company and have been knee deep in learning one of my new favorite applications Appcelerator Titanium. I plan on doing some posts to show why this has become my new favorite application but I wanted to first off review some of the new features that Hype released a couple weeks ago.

One of my more popular posts was how to create an HTML widget for iBooks. In that post I show you how to take any HTML5 content and convert it over to an dashcode widget that can be easily imported into iBooks. In that tutorial I export an interaction using Tumult Hype.

Creating the Dashcode Widget for iBooks was not too hard to do but was not too intuitive. Hype has taken matters into their own hands and made our lives much easier. Instead of having to create an XML file along with placing everything in a folder now all we have to do is export to iBooks. Here is how you do it.

Create your animation

The first step of course is to create your Hype animation. For this post I am just going to start with a box going from one side of the screen to the other.

Free tool of the week: Evernote, remember everything!

One free tool that I have come to love over the years is Evernote. Evernote has been around for awhile and is among one of the first apps I got when the new app store was announced for iOS or maybe it was soon after that. At first I did not use it much but have since come to love and use it a lot.

One of the great things about Evernote is they seem to have an app on every device so you can literally remember everything you put in it where ever you be and with any device you have on you. So if I make a note on my iPhone then go to my computer my note is right there. If I make a note on my computer I can go over to my Blackberry Playbook and find the same not there, it really is that easy and the best part of course is that it is free!
